As a hiring manager, you may be overwhelmed, because, as we all know by now, the current hiring market is tough. Searches may be taking longer, or you may be dealing with candidates who have multiple offers (see our previous blog posts!) No hiring manager really needs more to do right now, but what if, by putting in a little extra time upfront, you could improve your recruiting process for the future? Getting feedback from candidates will help.
One option is to use a Candidate Experience Survey. A quick, anonymous, online survey can help pinpoint areas in the interview or recruiting process that could use improvement. Keep it short! A few questions on a scale, plus space for expanding on ideas will get the job done.
Questions could include:
Was an appropriate amount of information about the role provided prior to the interview?
Did you learn enough about the company and what it’s like to work here?
Did the interview team make you feel welcome and comfortable?
Were you kept informed about your status as a candidate?
Would you recommend this company to a friend or colleague?
Of course, if you’re working with a good recruiter or search firm, detailed feedback about the interview process should be relayed from the finalist candidates as a matter of routine.
Remember, this valuable information is only as good as what you do with it!
